Smart Shield Systems
IQ Hardwire 16-F (Small Enclosure)
Reuse your existing hardwired sensors with a clean, modern IQ Panel. The IQ Hardwire 16-F (Small Enclosure) converts up to 16 wired zones—plus a dedicated loop for two-wire smokes—into secure wireless zones for your IQ system. The compact enclosure is designed to mount inside an existing can, making takeovers neat and cost-effective.

Why Choose This with Smart Shield Systems
- Professional takeover design that preserves your wiring and devices
- Clean, code-compliant install using the small enclosure inside your current can
- Full testing & labeling so zones match your home’s layout
- Ongoing support and monitoring through your IQ Panel+
Key Features
- 16 wired zones supported (15 N/O or N/C + 1 two-wire smoke loop). Up to 10 compatible two-wire smokes on the dedicated zone.
- Aux power + siren relay: 12VDC @ 500 mA auxiliary output for powered sensors and an onboard siren relay.
- Backup battery charging built in (12V battery, installer-supplied).
- Per-zone status LEDs for fast troubleshooting.
- EOL flexibility: Fixed 4.7kΩ or learn 1k–10kΩ to match existing loops.
- Compact “small enclosure” purpose-built to fit an existing metal can.

- Not for CO detectors. Use a dedicated wireless CO sensor instead.
- Need more room or two converter boards? See the Large Enclosure (QS7134-840) option.
Popular Use Cases
- Taking over legacy hardwired panels while upgrading to an IQ Panel
- Reusing door/window loops, motions, and glass breaks with clean labeling
- Powering wired motions/glass breaks from the converter’s 12V aux
Frequently Asked Questions
Function is the same. The Small Enclosure is built to mount inside an existing can for tidy retrofits, while the Large Enclosure (16″ × 14″ × 3″) replaces the can and offers more routing room (and space for two boards).
Yes. The module supports fixed 4.7kΩ or can learn 1k–10kΩ values to match your current wiring—ideal for clean takeovers.
Up to 10 on the dedicated smoke loop (don’t mix detector models). We commonly use System Sensor 2W-B / 2WT-B / 2WTA-B when compatible.
Yes. Use the built-in 12VDC @ 500 mA auxiliary output for powered sensors (total). We’ll verify current draw during design.
Absolutely. We label, enroll, and test every zone, verify EOL values, check aux power and siren operation, and train you on your IQ Panel app.
